Thank you for your enquiry.  There are three things you need to do in order to get Astro Gold onto a new Mac:

  1. Back up your charts
  2. Download Astro Gold onto the new computer and register it
  3. Port your backed up charts into Astro Gold on the new computer

1) BACKING UP YOUR CHARTS

(If you have saved your charts onto the iCloud you can skip this step as you already have them backed up there.)

On the old Mac, all chart files are saved by Astro Gold into a folder in Documents called Astro Gold. (Unless you chose to save them somewhere else.)

  • Get an external drive, such as a USB Drive (Thumb Drive, Flash Drive) and plug it into your Mac.
  • Open up your Documents folder, find the Astro Gold folder (unless you saved them to another folder), and open it.
  • Now copy the contents of that Astro Gold folder (or other folder you saved to) into the external drive.
  • When all the files are copied over, remove the external drive and put it aside to use a bit later

2) DOWNLOAD ASTRO GOLD ONTO THE NEW COMPUTER

If you still have the original download letter you used to install Astro Gold on the old computer, email a copy of it to yourself onto the new computer.  Open the email on the new computer, click to download and install Astro Gold (just like you did on the old computer) and register it with the license key as you did before.  If you are able to do that, you can reboot your Mac and then reopen this email and skip to the next section.

If you no longer have that download letter then you will need to go through some additional steps.

  1. On the old Mac, open Astro Gold.
    1. At the top of the screen, above the app, in the far left corner is the Apple Logo.  To the right of it are the words Astro Gold. Click those words.
    2. In the menu that comes up, choose the option to Register the app
    3. In the next window it will say you are registered and show your license key, but will not allow you to copy it.  So click the button that says Change license
    4. Now, copy all of the license key from the next screen, and paste it into an email to send to yourself on the new computer.  You may also want to make note of the way your name is listed (for example, if you use a middle name but did not have one when you registered, or visa versa. The name needs to be the same on both computers.  Make sure you close this screen after you copy the info so you don’t accidentally change the license key on the old Mac
  1. On the new Mac, go to our website https://www.astrogold.io/get-astro-gold/for-macos/ and scroll down, click to download the Demo version of Astro Gold. When the Demo is downloaded, open it.
    1. Open the email you sent to yourself to with the license key.
    2. Now follow the steps 1a and 1b above, then use the license key to register the Demo and it will convert to a full version of the app.

3) INPUTTING YOUR BACKED UP CHARTS INTO ASTRO GOLD

Plug in that USB in the new computer.  Open the Documents folder on the new computer, then open the Astro Gold folder.  Then click to open the USB and copy all backed up chart files into the Astro Gold folder

INPUTTING CHART FILES FROM THE ICLOUD DRIVE

If you saved charts on the iCloud drive from the old computer, you now need to turn on the iCloud Drive on the new computer (making sure you log in with the same Apple ID).  If you need help with this, let me know and I will send you a pdf explaining the procedure.
