I am getting a new iPhone (or iPad). How can I transfer the Astro Gold app to my new device?

It is quite easy to move Astro Gold to a new iPhone, but before you do so, it is important that you note two things. Firstly, please back up all your chart files first. Secondly please make sure you have logged onto iTunes with the same Apple ID you used when you purchased Astro Gold.

BACKING UP YOUR CHARTS

You can either do this using iTunes, or export your charts to yourself by email. Once you have backed your charts up, please note where you are storing them so you can access them later.

But for most people, the best way to backup charts is to turn on the option to save them on the iCloud.  In this way, you are in effect backing up each chart as you save it, so you don’t have to take the time to do a manual backup.  And what’s more, once you start saving charts on the iCloud drive on one device, you can access them from any other Astro Gold for iPhone, iPad or Mac app that you have, and even access them on a Windows computer to view them in Solar Fire.

PUTTING ASTRO GOLD ON YOUR NEW IPHONE

Once you have purchased an App from iTunes, you can download it again anytime you need to, on any iPhone or iPad. You will not have to pay for it again. However, in order to do so you MUST be using the same Apple ID you used when you purchased Astro Gold. Simply go to the iTunes App Store on your new device, search for Astro Gold, and tap to download and install it on your new iPad or iPhone!

RESTORING YOUR CHART FILES

Now that you have Astro Gold on your new device you will want to make sure you have all of your chart files as well. The easiest way to do so is to connect your iPhone/iPad to a computer where you have previously downloaded iTunes (making sure you have logged onto iTunes with the same Apple ID you used when you purchased Astro Gold), and use iTunes to Synch with your device. That should put all of your chart files into Astro Gold on your new device.

IF YOUR CHART FILES ARE NOT IN ASTRO GOLD

You can now use the files you saved, in a folder on your computer, to restore your chart files.
* If you emailed them to yourself to backup, and you have the email on the new device, you can click each chart file attached to the email to install it in Astro Gold.
* Alternately, you can go to the File Sharing section of iTunes, click on Astro Gold, click the Add file button, select the chart files you saved, and click Open to install them in Astro Gold.
