Exporting Charts from iPhone, iPad to Windows programs

It is very easy to export (copy) chart files from your iPhone or iPad and add them to the Windows programs Solar Fire and Astro Spark:

<< E-MAIL METHOD

1.Tap on Settings, then click on Export Chart Files

2.Find the file of charts that you want to send to Solar Fire and tap it, which will put a tick mark next to that file’s name. Then tap on the Send button.

3.An email will open up with the chart file you have selected showing as an attachment. Enter an email address in the To field. This should be an email address that you have access to on the computer containing Solar Fire or Astro Spark. Then tap the Send button.

4.Check your email on your computer, and you should see the email, from Astro Gold, with the subject line "Exported Charts from Astro Gold App". Double-click on the attachment to that email, which should be the name of the chart file you just sent. This attachment should end in .SFcht.

Double-clicking on the attachment should open it in Solar Fire, and you should be able to see all of the charts you just imported. But the file may not be in the same folder as your other chart files, so if you would prefer that then rather than opening it directly do the following:

a)Right-click on the attachment, and Save it to your desktop.

b)Go to the top of Solar Fire and click on the Utilities menu, then click Open User Files Folder.

c)In this folder, find and open the folder called Charts by double-clicking on it.

d)Now, drag the ?.SFcht file, which you saved to your desktop, into the Charts folder.

You should now have access to all of the charts you just sent from Astro Gold.

Once you have the charts from Astro Gold copied into Solar Fire, you may wish to merge them with chart files you already had on Solar Fire. This is quite easy to do.

<< MERGING CHARTS

1.From the Main Screen in Solar Fire click on the Chart menu.

2.Click on the Open menu item, and the "Chart Database" dialog box will open.

3.Click on the File button in the upper left corner to display the "File Management" dialog box with a list of your chart files.

4.Select the chart file you want to merge charts into (from other files) by clicking on it. (If the file you want to merge charts into doesn't exist then create it.)

5.Click on the Merge button. This opens the "Chart Merge Utility" dialog box.

6.The list on the left shows all the chart files in the current folder. (To see other chart files in other folders change the folder). The file that will receive all the charts from other files (the destination chart file) is shown in blue in the bottom right of the dialog box. That file, at the moment, should also be listed on the right side, because that side shows all the files whose charts will be merged together, and so far you have only put the destination file there.

7.For each chart file you want to add to the merge list (on the right) click on the file in the left list and then click on the Add button. The file will be added to the merge list on the right. Alternatively you can double-click on the file and it will be automatically added to the merge list. Or you can select many files using the control key on the keyboard as you click on each one and then click the Add button.

If you decide you don’t want to use one of the files on the merge list, the process is similar for removing files. Select the file(s) first then click on the Remove button - double-clicking doesn't apply for this part of the process.

When you are done, you should have all the files that you want to merge on the right side, and the destination file should also be at the bottom below the merge list.

8.Now click on the Merge button and copies of the charts will be created in the destination chart file. A message will let you know the number of charts that were merged in this way. Click on the OK button and the "Merge" dialog will close.

4.Click the OK button.

6.Check your email on your iPhone or iPad and you should see the chart file as an attachment to the email.  Click on the attachment to open it.

7.You should then be asked what app you want to use to open the file.  Click on the Astro Gold icon.

8. If you already have a file of charts on the device with the same name you will be asked whether you want to Merge non-duplicate charts, Overwrite existing file, or add Add a new file name.  Click the one that best suits your needs.

9. You should see a note pop up on your device telling you that your Import was successful.  Now you should have access to your selected charts.
